Rong Zun and Rong Xun
My name is Qiao’er Lin (Rong Xun) and my husband’s name is Pingguo Li (Rong Zun). In March 2012, my husband suffered a stroke when his brain artery burst. He underwent three surgeries and was hospitalized for 3 weeks. He suffered from incontinence, lost his ability to speak and was immobile. After undergoing treatment for two months, there was still no improvement to his condition. Since the weather was getting increasingly hot as summer set in, I started to worry that he would develop bedsores. At that moment, New York Bodhi Meditation Center came to my mind.
We registered for the 8.5-Day Health and Happiness Retreat. With my sister’s help, the two of us supported my husband to the class. During the class, as he could not move, he could only lie down. I could not help but worry about his condition. However, the teacher comforted me: “Qiao’er, as his condition is rather unique, let him lie down. He will also benefit from the auspicious energy of the meditation center.” After listening to the teacher’s words, I felt more reassured and confident.
A miracle happened on the third day. During an afternoon break, after I came out from the washroom, I could not find my husband. I asked a few dharma brothers and sisters but none of them had seen him. Just when I was feeling anxious, I spotted him standing near the stairs smiling at a portrait of Grandmaster JinBodhi! How did he get there? Did he walk there himself? This was indeed a miracle!
Soon after, we participated in another meditation retreat. In the midst of the retreat, one night at home, he got up. I asked him, “Where are you going?” He replied, “To the washroom.” My heart was filled with joy when I heard his reply, because this meant his incontinence and speaking ability had improved! Subsequently, when the teacher asked him for his name during the class, he could reply clearly.
On the seventh day of the class, I brought my husband for a follow-up consultation. The doctor was very shocked when he saw that my husband could walk by himself! Previously, he was always on wheelchair when he went for consultation. The medical staff even had to prepare adult diapers in advance for him. During that consultation, it was not necessary at all.
It is no exaggeration to say that Bodhi Meditation has given my husband a new lease of life! My family and I are very grateful and we hope that everyone can participate in the classes and practice diligently to benefit themselves and others.
